Short version: Pause collects only your email address (when you activate a license) and an anonymous device ID. We do not collect your browsing history, visited URLs, or any other personal data. We never sell your data to anyone.
1. Who we are
Pause is a browser extension and mobile app that helps you block distracting websites and apps. We are an independent developer operating as Team Pause. You can contact us at elipseday+support@gmail.com.
2. What data we collect
We collect the minimum amount of data necessary to run the product:
- Email address — collected only when you activate or restore a license key. Stored in our Firebase database to verify license ownership and allow you to restore your license on a new device.
- Anonymous device ID — generated automatically by Firebase when you install the extension or app. This is a random string with no connection to your identity. It is used to link your device to your license entitlement.
- License key — stored alongside your email to confirm which plan you are on.
- Waitlist email - if you sign up for Pro waitlist notifications, your email is sent directly to us via EmailJS for the sole purpose of notifying you when Pro launches. It is not stored in any database.
We do not collect:
- Your browsing history or visited URLs
- The websites or apps you choose to block
- Your name, phone number, or payment information
- Any analytics, crash reports, or usage statistics
3. How we use your data
Your email address is used solely to:
- Verify that you are the rightful owner of a license key
- Allow you to restore your license on a new device
- Send you your license key if you claimed one on our website
- Respond to support requests you initiate
We do not use your email for marketing without your explicit consent.
4. Where your data is stored
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore database and Firebase Authentication), hosted in the United States. Firebase is subject to Google's privacy policy available at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Your blocked sites list and settings are stored locally on your device only, using browser storage (Chrome extension) or device storage (mobile app). This data never leaves your device.
5. Third-party services
Pause uses the following third-party services:
- Google Firebase — authentication and database storage
- EmailJS — used to send your license key to your email upon claiming
- Vercel — hosts our website
We do not use any advertising networks, tracking pixels, or analytics tools.
6. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Delete your data at any time by emailing elipseday+support@gmail.com
- Correct inaccurate data
- Withdraw consent — you can stop using Pause and uninstall it at any time
We will respond to all requests within 30 days.
7. Children's privacy
Pause is intended for general audiences and is commonly used by students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at elipseday+support@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Pause after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
